Heather Anacker and Krista Feld are both freelance artists who work with textiles and fibers. Both attended Cal State Long Beach and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts- Fiber, Textile and Weaving Arts. Anacker now is located in Chicago, Illinois while Feld is still in Long Beach.

The installation is full of objects that pertain to fibers. Some of which are big and others which are small. The lighting was dim which made the colors of all the objects grouped together look neutral. There was a little room that Krista built that was custom made to fit her dimensions, making it more personal. There was hand dyed yarn and other objects that were made by them. Although some of the pieces were really random and did not seem to fit in place they added to the overall look of the gallery. The exhibit contained personal space of both Heather and Krista. Each part of their personal space was unique and fit to them.

The installation called Dwelling required people to take their shoes off. It made the experience more interactive and kind of a signal of commitment. Instead of keeping shoes on and scanning the artwork for 4 seconds, taking the shoes off forces people to look longer and harder because no one would want to take their shoes off for a couple of seconds just to put them back on again. There was a collection of herbs in jars; every jar had a different color that came from Feld’s experimenting. There were tools hanging up on the wall that both Heather and Krista use and put together as a collaborative piece. The exhibit was very unique and showed parts of both the artist’s lives and belongings. Much of their artwork was displayed and had special meaning.

I thought that their exhibit was really cool. Their craft is incredible and unique. Both use fibers in their own ways, which many people do not do anymore and often forget that it is a work of art. One thing that stood out to me was Anacker’s pod that looked so fun and cozy, as well as Feld’s little customized space. It is such a personal space that it was nice of them to share and made me want my own.
